  We will be assisting DNREC in their Annual Beach Grass Planting on Saturday, March 21 from 9 a.m. - Noon. It's just three hours, but we should be done before that.

  We have been assigned to the northeast side of the bridge at Indian River Inlet. 

  Please meet at North Day Use Parking Area (click above for map) and be sure to sign in with Becky & Rob Knowles no later than 9:00 a.m. Our team leader will then give instructions on the proper planting techniques and show us to our planting site. 

  We have “state of the art” planting sticks that will make the job quick and easy - one person pokes the hole and two people can plant. Gardening gloves are also helpful. 

  This is a rain or shine event, so hope for
  nice weather but also be prepared!

  Then on to the fun part: Once we finish planting, we will gather at The Starboard in Dewey for a beverage (or two) and brunch. 

  This event is open to anyone who wants to join us. Please be sure to register your guests. This is a great way for friends and family to learn what the DSPHC is all about.

• Delaware Coastal Running Festival Water Stop

  What: Every year the DSPHC volunteers to run a water station at the Coastal Delaware Running Festival.  If you helped in the past, you know it is a lot of fun (even though it is early)!  You get a t-shirt, you get to go to the post-race afterparty, and you can help runners have a phin-tastic race!  So, come out and volunteer to hand out water and Gatorade, cheer on the runners, and have a great time!

  When: April 12th - it is an early morning, and I won't pretend it isn't.  But we will have music playing and maybe even some coffee and donuts to keep that energy level up!  Our water stations help runners in three races - marathon, 1/2 marathon, and 9k.  The marathon starts at 7:00am so volunteers will need to be there between 6:00 and 6:30 to get everything prepped and ready to go. The majority of the runners will be through by about 9:30, but there will be a few slower 1/2 marathoners passing through after that.  Hopefully we should be finished around 10:30. Annnnd...then we get to head to the afterparty when we are done!  It is lots of fun!
  
  Where: Gordon's Pond Parking Area, Cape Henlopen State Park in Rehoboth Beach.  There should be plenty of parking and there will be porta-potties at our station (along with the park-maintained ones).
